Hi loves,

Would you actually believe that I live on the east coast in the DC region and had only been to New York for a 12 hour business trips? Like I never ever visited New York City to experience The City.

Well that changed last week when I got invited to attend my first ever actual Fashion Show. We decided to turn this opportunity into an all weekend trip. And at moments I was a bit concerned whether I was there for fashion or food. Seriously if you follow me on instagram, there is now a clear divide on my instagram page (All fashion) vs on my instagram stories (95% food). My previous blog had a mix both and some of my cooking recipes. I plan to encompass both of those realms back on my blog.

It was a surreal feeling actually attending the event, seeing something that you mostly watch on TV but live infront of you on stage. Most of the time you attend shows and expect items that you would not be wearing out on the streets – but one of the designer had similar taste as me. I had a balloon sleeve dress with a leather wrap belt around my waist and that was basically the concept this designer was rolling with. It made my heart swell with joy. I know NYC Fashion week events are invite only and I was lucky enough to score this without having to even reach out but I realized these events are pretty short lived. You go there take a seat, the anticipation builds and before you know it, the show ends. It is like a small dosage of a high inducing drug. My goal is maybe next year to reach out and do a bit of networking and see if I can score a few more events. I did snag tons of IG stories during the event, that ofcourse went up that day. I do have some pictures that I snapped which I might share in future posts – I did the dumb mistake of picking the wrong spot to sit so the bright light washed out most of the pics- oh well lesson learnt.

This is the outfit I wore day one in NY. Problem was, it was a extremely cold and wet weekend. The rain poured non stop since we stepped into the City until after we left. So taking these shots was a bit hard. With my demi permanent dyed hair, the color easily bleeds when my hair gets wet – so standing out in pouring rain without no cover is a big no no. But I think we improvised pretty well.  I had to take plethora of shoes that were rain and walking around NYC appropriate in puddles and I was pretty glad with my choices. Let me know what you guys think.
